Once Upon a Pancake

Created by Rick Benger

A coffee table book full of unfinished short stories. Anyone can pick up a pen and write inside, and then the next person writes, and so the stories grow.

over 6 years ago – Wed, Oct 11, 2017 at 06:53:41 PM

Tune in and turn on your imaginations -- it's live story time. (at 6.30pm PDT)

Special news: the mercurial Alek Sharma will be accompanying on piano. He'll make it up as he goes along, just like us.

See you soon!

Collaborative story session, Concepting, Copies for Charity

9 days to go and here's where it's at:

LIVE FICTION

Next Wednesday I'll host a Kickstarter Live session in which we'll write a story together. You'll be able to contribute a line by typing in the comments. Tune in to make stuff up with strangers and me.

THE BOOK

I've added 80% of these story ideas...

... to the manuscript proper. The other 20% are rubbish; to be recycled. Also in the manuscript are additional visually-led stories that designer Jake and me came up with last week. (Like a group of protesters with placards, some of which readers can fill in). Here is a compelling action shot of us.

STRETCH GOAL

You may say that raising an additional $9462 in 9 days is unlikely, and you'd be correct. I'll be donating a few copies to writing/reading charities in any event. But it'd be great to give more... nudge nudge, share share.

THANK YOU

Your backing has given this book life. It's a joy and a gift to get to make it.

Blown away

Thank you!

We hit our funding goal on Day 1, which means the book is real and coming soon-ish to your coffee table. I'm thrilled.

You might have noticed the Stretch Goal I listed in the campaign page. When we reach 20k in funding, I'll start giving away books to organizations and non-profits that use creative writing for community outreach. If you have a suggestion for a worthy donee, let me know.

I'll be in touch soon with a production update.

Gratefully,

Rick

P.S. If you're in San Francisco and like buttermilk pancakes, come by WeWork, 600 California St., tomorrow at 10.30am. We're hosting a book launch and morning tea.
